Devastating Agriculture With Chemical Fertilisers and Measures To Solve Them

 Yes,with being honest; we are missing those agriculture days where we were habituated with bringing both fresh and healthy crops in our environment and market. But now, those days

seems like a dream. We are developing both attitudes; in one hand; cultivating crops with chemical fertilizers and in another hand continuosly buying and intaking such crops in our regular life.Hence the result is also cracked i.e life expectancy has certainly decreased much  than the years before we used such artificial substances.One thing that we need to know is that, chemical fertilizers are itself not bad to use ,but overusing them  in a huge manner are creating trouble. Farmers are lacking proper knowledge and precautions for using them.In this sense, we can know how the critical effects scattered by those substances are providing threat to living organisms  and on our lands.

                              

According to the news, annually 355000 people  and 700 people in a day in the world suffer from a death due to the chemical fertilizers.These chemicals are becoming risky,though they are easy to manufacture and affordable to buy in every regions. Many vegetables containing more amount of chemical fertilizers are destroyed frequently. If any cultivated crop contains 35% less chemical feritilser ,then they are considered edible and  in case more then 35% , non-edible and that containing upto 35% are edible to eat only under certain criteria. According to the study,4 crore people have been affected by these substances, every years in the world. Also many medium level farmers are affected by many diseases. Veiwing such harsh condition, we can know that they have lead to demolish the right of each individual to eat  healthy food lacking chemical fertilizers.

One of the  main reason for using these chemical fertilizer is to meet the demand of the gowing population i.e to remove scarcity of food all over the world. Besides this, people donot want to make their cost of production only high ; they want the profiting result and so,they use such chemical fertilizers.The cost of these substances is cheaper to buy and even easy to use ,so many people prefer it automatically.But such chemical fertilizers are providing many harmful effects which people are not realizing in a wise manner.This may lead to many problems in the world later.

If we overview in our environment , we can see that it is polluting our surrounding badly( air pollution, land pollution and waterways pollution ; which is becoming a major reason for many

aquatic animals to die in a faster rate.)These fertilizers are degrading the fertility of the soil by removing the organic content of the soil and  leading to soil acidification. It also depletes the essential nutrients found in soil itself and thus will produce foods with lesser vitamins and minerals later from the land. These are also the fine reason for destroying the useful micro-organisms and insects in soil which are very useful for biological nitrogen fixataion and continuation of various cylcle in the soil for promoting the proper growth of the crop. There are many other harmful effects caused to human health  by the intake of such chemicals and they are diarrhoea,weakness, eye problem,cancer, tumor, infertility ,weak child born, mental impairments, uncontrolled muscle movements, dizziness, headaches , methemoglobinemia , etc. Human health gradually falls into many troubles ,not developing good immunity.

So the question here itself is that, are we only continuously using it and creating a darker future or applying some remedy for a better tomorrow? Of course, we should take some measures. We should keep two things in mind while making the measures possible like growing population and the state of food.The best possible solution we can take is IPM(Integrated Pest Management) which concerns soil fertility and doesnot harm human health too. IPM is an ecosystem based sustaining agenda that supports for the long term prevention of pests by using biological control methods ,modification of cultural practices,using resistant varieties etc.IPM is being conducted well but not in all places .Many farmers are unaware about this project.The next step we can take is applying biofertilizer as an immense need. Biofertlizers cannot destroy the pests and diseases immediately ,it takes time and it is generally suitable for low pests and disease area and it is effective if we are able to use it properly. But farmers are using chemical fertilisers immediately to remove the pests and diseases which may be due to lack of awareness and proper techniques.Thus,there are many efforts required to bring this message about IPM and biofertilizer including application of both in all rural and urban areas for the sustainable and needed change in the cultivation of crop ; kicking positive influence both on the motherland and health of the living organisms.
