 Newly Introduced Dragon Fruit In Markets

No doubt, we have been hearing a lot about a special fruit in recent; roaming around in
peoples' mind and daily food habits, no other than named, "dragon fruit". The name dragon finds so unusal , but the reason behind this,is the way  it resembles an Asian dragon with sharp thorns. It has been introducing in several markets of the different countries . Till now ,they have already become the lovable fruits of Vietnam, Thailand , Israel and Malaysia. It is almost gaining popularity day by day by its unique appearance ,taste  and benefits. It is said that this fruit was originated in Mexico for the first time. But now this fruit is cultivated and preferred all around the world. It is also known by different names such as pitaya, pitahaya or strawberry pear.

Dragon fruit is indicated as an ornamental plant as well as fruit germinating plant. This fruit belongs to the family Cactaceae and grows on a hylocereus cactus. It grows well in dry place and  is beneficial especially for  less water requiring area. After the flowers arise in the plant, the fruits are ready to harvest after 45-60 days . This plant blooms during the night and also known as "Night Queen".There are 3 varieties of dragon fruit found. The  first one is of red skin colur with white inside, the next one is of yellow skin color with white inside and the last
one is red skin colour with red flesh inside. Most of the people resemble this fruit taste or flavor with kiwi fruit. This fruit is delicious and posses crunchy texture. These fruits are generally found to be more expensive than other normal  fruits in markets. Different food products like ice-cream,jams, fruit juice and wine are manufactured from this fruit.



When it comes about the terms of proper health, dragon fruit can be the best to include in our regular diet. Without any doubt, it refreshes our body after intake. It is rich in fiber which is equally important for maintaining blood pressure, weight  loss and reduces heart related problem. Antioxidants are found in high amount which protects our cell,skin and disease like cancer. Healthy heart can be the better benefit from this fruit.The amount of cholesterol is found low in this fruit including saturated and trans fats. Omega 3 fatty acid is present in the seeds which is necessary in our human body.It contains several  essential nutrients ,especially  a good source of potassium that maintains proper water ,acid and Ph balance in the body. This fruit helps in preventing asthma,arthritis as well as fights ageing. Morever,it is enriched with vitamin C benefits.

Entering in the cultivation of dragon fruit,we must know that we can grow it in an area where there is dry soils(sandy loam to clay loam) and tropical climate is referred as beneficial for its cultivation. Too much of sunlight is not good for its proper growth.Required temperature for its growth is 20 to 30 degree celsius. Soil pH of 5.5-7 is required .We can also prefer sandy soil with  organic matter content for its farming.We can grow it from seeds as well as by propagation methods. For commercial cultivation , there must be the preference of propagation as seeds take long time for germination and will stop keeping characteristics of mother plants . From propagation method,cutting is usually done (20 cm length).We should keep the cuttings in a proper planting mixture with proper shade.

Recently, these dragon fruits, regarded as super food; have been planting  in many countries of the world. It is seeming new and much liked one.The scope of farming has achieved  a major goal after the unique  introduction of this fruit. Economic prospects seems to risen worldwide ,as each country benefits. It is also found to be grown easily ,meaning that  no more and extra hardships are to be provided like than in usual crops. In a nutshell,we can know this fruit is best option for leading to the bright future on both farming and human health.
